Question Speed Fluctuates

Hello

The speed of my Internet fluctuates from 3 meg to 19 meg. Is this normal or should I call VM to get my line checked out?

Does anyone else share your connection?

Is your PC doing an update?
What time of day are you comparing your results to?
Are you using the ether or USB portion of the modem?

Re: Speed Fluctuates

I'm getting the same issue. Keep calling the tech support team who got the speed up to 20Mb only for it to drop to 4Mb 1/2 an hour later. It's now a farce where I have to disconnect the coax cable, reboot modem, refresh IP, reconnect coax cable, reboot modem and refresh the IP. Only lasts about an hour max before the speed plummets to 3-4Mb.

I have been running the Speed Guide test for over a month now and the speeds range from 2022kps to an appalling 293kbp. Virgin are adamant that it’s not there problem as when you’re on the phone to the Tech support they get the speed up to 20Mbs but it never lasts.

Spoke to customer services who expressed their concern but nothing has changed. The old 4Mb Telewest product was rock solid but ever since I upgraded to Virgins XL package it’s poor at best. Any ideas?
