Thoughts on this speedtest result?

Now, I think I am on 10mb broadband but just got this speed test result.

Is that a 28mb speed? How is that even possible on a 10mb connection?

Edit: Seems I have been upgraded to 20mb and hadn't noticed, but that's still an odd result I think.

Re: Thoughts on this speedtest result?

First time I've ever used that test.

---------- Post added at 17:35 ---------- Previous post was at 17:33 ----------

Sat, 23 Feb 2008 17:34:21 UTC

Test 1: 1024K took 396 ms = 2585.9 KB/sec, approx 21308 Kbps, 20.81 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 415 ms = 2467.5 KB/sec, approx 20332 Kbps, 19.86 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 463 ms = 2211.7 KB/sec, approx 18224 Kbps, 17.8 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 796 ms = 2572.9 KB/sec, approx 21201 Kbps, 20.7 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 20266 Kbps, 19.79 Mbps

Seems about right for a 20mb connection then.

Re: Thoughts on this speedtest result?

Speed tests are the worst way of measuring your max speed. First of all check modem config 192.168.100.1 root root op config downstream. That then is your speed. To measure what your getting use a multithreaded download app such as reget or download accelerator plus and download a fair sized file with as many connections as possible from somewhere like microsoft download centre. That then will give you a sustained download speed. A real one not a toy one the speed tests give

Re: Thoughts on this speedtest result?

Or try

http://ntlspeed.webhop.net/

large files at bottom of the page and download 2 large files as Darth said.

Dunno about anyone else but lately gamefiles has been rubbish, probably because everyone uses it for testing.

never works for me, i enter that ip address into my browser and all i get is my Mac code, serial number, there is no info about what speed i am, the only option there is to click is lost/forget password and that's it.
