You can't (legally) buy a modem so if you want a new one you should contact customer services.

Jefferson which UBR are you connected to. Here in Barton-Le-Clay (not that far away from you) we go through Flitwick. I only ask as I've found the 4mb service to be really good from that UBR and hoping that the 10Mb will be just as good.

I'm in Flitwick, and I've never had a real complaint to make about my 4mb. That said, the only problem we've ever had here is with power (4 V Boxes). But Virgin fixed that in a week with an extra cable from the street, and some tv signal sending-thing.
Here's to hoping 10mb will be problem-free...

I have to disagree with the quote, they're doing it to get `upto 8Mb' ADSL customers. Same as the soon to be released 50Mb because BT are upgrading more of their exchanges to `upto 24Mb' ADSL2+.
It's a VM vs BT mine's BIGGER than yours. Let's just hope that the network improves in quality so it can handle all the extra bandwidth because it ain't been right since 20Mb was released.

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
yes but some adsl isps like ukonline dropped their 24 meg speed to a 16 because no adsl customer is getting anywhere near 24megs.. adsl sucks id like to hear form someone on bethere's 2.5meg upload though that looks good but wouldent go back to adsl for the upload, at least with vm they use fibre optic lines and u get beter/faster downloads

As far as I can remember when the 10MB went up to 20MB the download/upload allowance was not increased.

As far as I recall, you are right Tony! the STM did officially come into action with the introduction of the UPTO 20Mb broadband internet!

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
So the question still stands. Will we be getting an increase in the allowance or will VM just use this to limit the L customers to less than 1 meg. I suppose this will free up bandwith for the new 50 meg service

Why would they? They're already getting bargain basement better-than-ADSL broadband.

It has been stated time & time again, the new 50Mb users WILL NOT be using your bandwidth as it uses (EURO?) DOCSIS 3, NOT DOCSIS 1 as the current 1,2,4,10 & 20Mb tariffs...
There is a big difference between the 2, use the Search Forum tool to find info on the differences & specs of DOCSIS 1 & EURO DOCSIS 3, or use google and or Wikipedia.
