I have been recieving very slow internet after 4pm for a while now have made numerous calls to virgins helpdesk every time I rang they said it was just congestion which is not accatable as the speed i was getting made my internet unusable. The amount of arguments I had can not be counted.
I have rang up every day this year and today I recieved some help from what can only be described as the only person with virgin who is helpful. I rang today saying my internet is running at 40kbps so he got me to change my login account from my normal virgin one to an ADSL test account once this was changed I recieved around the 500kbps mark which is what I would expect as I am capped. I think this proves that the problem does not exist in my house but at virgins end as my account is affected. Problem now is everytime it is slow which is every night! I need to change my logon account to this adsl test account to get the speed i should.
Can anyone help to get this ressolved once and for all!
Thats right I am on non-cable adsl broadband all works fine using the test account that they gave me but as soon as I put my username back on my router, the speed goes down to an un-useable level again so I have a work around but this cannot be the answer!!! can it?

Re: Slow Internet 19kbps
yes it is definetely a problem at their end with your account so i would suggest that you ask them to make a new user and password for you for example name.surname2, delete your old one then rename your new one to be the same as your old one if you get what i mean. i don't know though as i am not adsl

I have used many pcs to test this with. During non peek hours I recieve 5000kps which is great but it is only during peek hours I get the problem. If I then change the username during peek hours I get what I expect I think this proves that it is not at my end but something on virgins side. I can confirm that I have no viruses or spy ware as the laptop I am currently running is an MOD laptop although I have just ran a scan anyway.
I have also tried a different router, 3 different filters, the router is plugged into the only socket in the house and I have changed the RJ11 and RJ45 cables.
