Poor Connectivity 4th Jan '08
Having issues with the 20mb service connectivity in the SS3 / Shoeburyness area southend on sea)
Browsing is generally crawling, to the extent of having to change browser settings to only show text (just to get the load time of basic things like the cableforum down to a couple minutes)
Email is sluggish, can't connect to various servers i.e. online radio and youtube media etc
Simular symptoms to the issue we had last week where service was unavailable running from Friday through till Wednesday, problem began some time before mid-day today
The 0800 number has not advised of any problems nationally or regionally, and the status page has no active tickets in this area suggesting a problem or fault

Hi,
Please can you login to your modem's config page http://192.168.100.1 user root pass root and post your modems up and downstream power levels ?
I will have a look and see if there are any issues and we can go from there

Re: Poor Connectivity 4th Jan '08
Late reply due to connection instability... took 5 minutes to get the reply page up, despite disabling images etc... (page is a wall of text/code)
Downstream Power Level 0.4 dBmV
Upstream Power Level 35.0 dBmV
From what I've heard/read theres more outages, everybody in my area is having the same problem again, bracing for another week without bb

Re: Poor Connectivity 4th Jan '08
ok your levels are all fine.
Are you still experiencing slow browsing ? if so it may be an idea to give broadband support a call and see if they can do anything for you. alternativly you could go onto the Virginmedia.Support.Broadband.Cable newsgroup and post there. they are usually fairly prompt in replying and it is free where as telephone support is 25ppm.
Let me know how you get on.

I thought I'd include the information here incase by chance there are others in the area experiancing the same problem
Quote:
There is an SNR issue affecting the area, network engineers are working to
resolve this as soon as possible. It's logged under reference 620778

I needed to at least know I wouldn't be waiting for another week while it got fixed, that'll do me for now

This morning its started again
I've checked through the modem settings everything on my end is fine
Can't browse properly, gaming is impossible, and I'm not a heavy downloader either

SNR fluctuates, so you will see your performance changing.
