a bit of sound advice needed
hi i have the chance of buying my s.t.b. of virgin for £75,but when i asked about maintaince the girl i was talking to wasn't to sure she said i would probably have to pay a call out charge but was unsure of the cost for a call out,anybody out there have any ideas ? p.s. am i wise considering to buy it. thanks

You don't actually buy the STB. The charge is for the installation and is for a V+ box. Should you have any problems give them a call, should the stb faulty it will be replaced.

From what I read in the leaflet promoting the 1/2 price V+ installation, that was one of their plus points over Sky, i.e. if it goes wrong, they fix it since you rent, not buy.

stay with me on this one,my bill states services £15 per month for v+ box,is the s.t.b. not the same as v+ box if i have made a pigs ear of this post my apoligies

i think what you are saying is that when you first got the v+ you had to pay a monthly charge and you are still paying that monthly charge. correct? but i think that you probably got the v+ before virgin started charging the installation fee instead of the monthly fee so the £75 is probably the outstanding payment left from the £150 so yes you will get free repairs if you pay the £75 because virgin own the box but you have paid in full the 'installation fee' so therefore will no longer have to pay a monthly fee.
