Exclamation Very High Latency Issues - Need Help

For about 2 weeks now I have been experiencing very high latency issues through my Virgin Media 20MB connection.

From around the middle of the afternoon until just gone midnight my latency is around 230ms which as you can imagine, causes me problems with remote administration and gaming.

I have Rang Virgin customer support 4 times regarding this issue and have only once spoken to someone, out of 7 Virgin employees, who actually knows what latency is

No one at virgin customer support seems to be able to help me.

I have also sent an email to support regarding these issues (no reply as yet).

I know other people are also having these issues, but have'nt seen many reporting on these forums yet.

I have run a tracert numerous times to different addresses (as did one of the support staff I spoke to) and find that every time at around the 8th or 9th hop latency jumps to 220ms.
Nobody at virgin seems to be able to help me with this.

My Download speeds are fine, but latency is far more important to me than DL.

I feel that my problems are being ignored by virgin, and through this am being forced to find another supplier.

I just want to be connected to support at Liverpool who sorted a similar issue to this within minutes, by changing my channel or whatever it takes.(something which the support in India refuse to do.)

I am really at the end of my tether with this one and I am asking you as a community for help.
If anyone has any information as to what is happening, why and how to fix it this would be appreciated greatly.

I feel this is an issue which is effecting many others and needs bringing to the fore.

I had the same problems for months with the same results. Nobody was interested and at 25p a min to be on hold I have taken the only other option and have cancelled my BB, after 7 years with NTL, and started using a different ISP. I suggest you think about doing the same as its not going to get better any time soon

What modem do you have? if its a Surfboard motorola modem you can change the upstream channel yourself.

ah if changing the channel does nothing then its most likely capacity in which case find out when the upgrade is due or change providers.
