Upgraded Speed & Now No Service!

Hi. I upgraded from 2mb to 4mb on Saturday morning, rebooted the modem but since then, no service at all. I called the 25p per minute helpline and was told that my account was still showing a dial up service and not broadband, even though I switched several years ago and have been paying for the service ever since! I was advised to ring 150 and ask them to put it right, which I did, but the rep didn't seem to have a clue and simply told me to wait for 24 hours.

Called back on Monday and managed to get the UK call centre. The rep in CS seemed to know what they were talking about. Seems our broadband service was disconnected rather than upgraded! Reconnection via the helpline (again) will take up to 72 hours allegedly. CS promised a £5 credit to the account to cover the call to the helpline & the techie suggested I ring CS (again) to request a credit for the loss of service.

EDIT: Internet connection now restored at 14:30 Tuesday so without a service for getting on for 80 hours.

Re: Upgraded Speed & Now No Service!

And now despite CS's insistence that I am on 4mb I can never get any better than 2mb first thing in the morning (6.30am). Like everyone else, speeds later in the day are the pits. I have no BT line otherwise I'd be off like a shot. Better check on their installation prices I guess...

there have been a lot of DHCP issues in grimsby ie no IP addresses assigned so when you power down modem it cannot find an IP address so will not work
