New Modem

My new modem has just arrived. Before i connect it up is it true that the closer to the NTL/VM wall socket with the two white wires coming out of it the better the speed will be?

Re: New Modem

Erm, no don't think so

Mine as loads of wire, and goes to the back of the house and up. Basically, the furthest point away and mine still max's out and is fast since they fixed the UBR.

Re: New Modem

Agree with MistaP.

My modem is situated in my spare room, about 4.5 meters of cable from the main inlet. My speeds don't seem affected by this distance.

Re: New Modem

Thanks for the help. It's just that i thought i remembered reading somewhere on this forum that the closer the modem is to the socket the better.
