They shouldn't give it to you, you're not the account holder as you're only 13.
Get your mum or dad to phone them up and ask for it

That's if you're on Virginmedias ADSL service. If you're on their cabled bradband, you don't need a MAC code

Re: VM havin a laugh with my MAC code?

I take it you want to transfer from Virgin ADSL to a different provider?

Cloning a mac Media Access Control number from a Virgin cable modem and was used when people where having issues with XBL. Its of no use to you at all.

Simply put if your out of your 12 month contract then you (Meaning the account holder) should be able to get one as you request to leave. It is worth noting that requesting a mac number does not close down your account automagically and this will need to be done once your connection is live with your new vendor.

Re: VM havin a laugh with my MAC code?

When I requested mine from sky it arrived after a few days in the post. Nore sure on Virgins policy for issuing mac codes as I worked only on on-net when I was there.

Re: VM havin a laugh with my MAC code?

Just curious but how do you get given a MAC code or is this different from a MAC address. It was my understanding that MAC addresses are for uniquely identifying hardware on a network and is firmwired (i think i just made up a new word ) into the hardware itself !?

Don't get confused between a MAC address of a network device such as a computer's network port or modem, and a MAC key (Migration Authorisation Code) required by ISPs to alow the transfer of ADSL services from one ISP to another. This thread is about the latter.
