Whats going on?

Every few hours now, for the past two days my internet has just died randomly. It comes up in windows saying limited or no connectivity, and I thought at first it may have been something to with my router, but when I plug it directly into the computer I get the same message, same with my laptop. So I just unplug my modem for 20-30 seconds and plug it back in, and my internet is back. What? Is my modem dying or is Virgin messing me about?

Re: Whats going on?

Not yet, I'm giving it two or three days to see if the problem persists. If it does, I'll give em a ring.

Re: Whats going on?

You may want to check your signal levels on the modem to see if that's the issue. Which modem is it and how long have you had it?

Re: Whats going on?

I had that problem last year and turned out the blue LAN cable was dodgy. I went out and got another and that was that

Re: Whats going on?

I've had the same problem over the last few days. I've unplugged my router and plugged the cable modem into my laptop and the problem has gone away. I take it that my router is playing up.

Re: Whats going on?

Haven't had the problem today...yet. When it has done it, now that I think about it I've had torrents downloading, not too fast (about 100kb/s down 10kb/s up) so I wouldn't have thought it'd be affecting anything.

I've had a scientific atlanta one for nearly 2 years.
