I live in a town called Great harwood. and to be honest the internet serivce is apauling. a friend called " florence " has sent me here and said that some of you could possibly help;

Counter strike 1.6 i play and i get ping of 200+ everyday. and it doesnt go untill say 1 am and then comes back about 4pm . over and over.

help me x

Great Harwood is near Preston, isn't it? You may be experiencing the Traffic Management for upload as well as download. Basically, if you upload over 1GB after 4PM, you get throttled. I don't know how much data CS takes up, but it could be that, if you're downloading and uploading aswell

uhm. i doubt thats the problem. i dnt upload mate :X and i aint sent anything or downloaded in 4 - 5days... ebay probs is the limit and cs isnt that much lik u can get a low ping with 512kb connection. ( e.g 10 - 20 ping ) But i seem to always get 200+ and im considering swaping. Yes Gt harwood is nr preston pal.

You are continuously uploading and downloading when you play online games. Every packet going to and from your pc is uploading or downloading. CS uses about 3-6KB/s IIRC depending on the number of players on the server. High ping is caused by over-subscription, not STM kicking in.
