Re: Speedtest

Just tried again 20 meg in 6.1 seconds. Tried again a few times and the transfer rate is fluctuating wildley. Anything from 2MB to 300kB.Probably not the best time of day to carry out this test but you could do with some larger files to download but I guess your limited to 55MB.

Re: Speedtest

Hi all!

i'm on a 20Mbit connection. i'm not getting much bandwidth right now from VM cause its that time of the evening when everyone is online doing "stuff!"

But this morning i downloaded a 695Mbyte file in just over 5 mins, which i was pretty impressed with

ZebUK - in order to get a true speed-test you will need to take an aggregate from downloading the same file several times during the course of a day, speedtest.net doesn't send a large enough 'packet' of information to allow the 20Mbit connection to wind-up to full speed.

You are better off downloading something over 100MB from a site like download.com or somewhere where you can choose a VM Mirror.

Doing this between Midnight and 4pm will give you the best/most realistic result!! anytime between 4pm and Midnight the network is being hammered and local congestion will interfere with the speed of your connection.

hope this helps!

I do that as well and find the speedtest results accurately reflect the download rates.

@Jonathan: Your 20Mb download comes down at 17KB/s.
