How much do YOU download?

I have been a customer of NTL/Virgin for over 4 years now, and have never had any problems with my broadband. I was therefore a bit surprised to find slow speeds recently (20mb package) and after some searching found the answer... needless to say I am not happy with the limits imposed.

I would like to ask the 'heavy bandwidth' users on these forums just how much they download, and if Virgin have ever contacted them regarding this.

I consider myself a heavy user, and since legal HD content, recorded TV shows, game demos etc. etc. are now available so freely there is no way to avoid heavy usage and this is something that needs to be considered by ISP's.

I don't really mind the 5mb cap during peak times, as long as I can continue downlading during that time and not start having someone telling me it's too much.

So - if any of you are downloading more than 10 gig daily and have, or have not had problems, I would love to know.

HHHmmm just over 500gb a month at the moment and no i've not had any problems, aside from where to put it all.

Tigerusernet belting at 2.3mb i guess about a shed load,daily,but most are transfered straight to dvd,i think i would say i really dont know,but i guess i get more than my money's worth.

I probably downloaded more in partial downloads just checking for that elusive 20Mb these last 3 months than what i actually have to use.

I`m not a heavy downloader at all though and some months the only thing i actually download are updates.I`m not saying i never fire ktorrent up before i go to bed but never 500G a month

I have to watch enough s**t on that TV without downloading more if it too watch.

Besides,my TVout has went to pot at the moment and i`ll be damned if i`m doing that encoding lark again.
Once i fix the TVout i might go back to about 10G a month........if that.

We only need 20Mb so that myself and the kids can all be using our pc`s at the same time of an evening.Not something that STM goes hand in hand with.

Keelhaul the 5% i say and leave the rest of us alone

about 40GB a month, at the moment, mostly TV series.

The bottleneck is watching them, I'm on 4Mb/s connection & a standard episode of say Heroes or 4400 in XVid from an HD source takes around 15 minutes to download the 400MB file - it then takes 45 minutes to watch it.

So a gig a day is nearly 2 hours telly - about as much as I can find time to watch.

Perhaps I should get more DVD box set copies, they take longer to download than they do to watch

30gig so far this month. Sometimes it's heavier but I have never even been close to 100gig and have never hit STM although I disregard it when I want something.
