No sync light but connection fine

I was looking at looking at the modem lights, and noticed the sync light was not lit, strange thing was connection is still perfectly fine. Because apparently when the sync light drops, the connection does also. The only lights lit are the ENET and RDY lights.

Re: No sync light but connection fine

Maybe the bulb has gone!!

But seriously, guess it could be a sign that it may soon drop the connection?

Re: No sync light but connection fine

Just checked again and the light is still off, yet i'm still posting and the connection is still good, so that shows everything is fine. Just checked the service status page, nothing come up as of yet.

Re: No sync light but connection fine

Your not accidentally using a neighbours wireless connection instead of your own are you?

Re: No sync light but connection fine

I think we're all getting a little over-excited here. If the thing is working, it doesn't need replaced, whatever the sync light is or is not doing.

The simplest explanation is usually the best one - my money's on the lamp being broken. This is all the more likely if it's an older modem, which is why I asked the OP to tell us what model it is.

Re: No sync light but connection fine

I've appeared to of fixed it - by rebooting the modem, although I looked in the modems event log and there was some errors e.g. "no ranging response" or "loss of sync" etc. BUt the connection hasnt dropped once.

FYI the modem is a Ambit 200.
