20meg cap

think ill be down grading this week currently on 20meg and it gets capped so i can only download at 512ksec allso i noticed i get capped at 2 am whats that all about :S

these highspeed lines from vm arnt worth **** now tbh if u have big files to download after reinstalls like demos drivers etc etc if they come in at around 1gig not sure of the exact ammount u get capped might aswell get a cheaper line and get the same cap.

Re: 20meg cap

marv, this info may help you decide which downgrade to choose; it shows where/when the shaping kicks in on each package....

512K/sec is not a cap (for cap read reduction in speed which is not a cap), that's some other problem. The worst you will be reduced to is 5Mb/sec on the 20Mb service.

What you ar experiencing is either a local or network problem.

Try multiple downloads, tot up the speed each one is downloading, that will give you a better idea.

Re: 20meg cap

I'd like to point out that in Cambridge CB4 with 20mbit i'm getting shaped when i reach 4GB and not 3GB as that webpage says.

Oh look another STM thread. Anyway, 20meg 16hours a day and 5meg for 8 hours a day is ample to download everything you need multiple times over and that's assuming you actually hit the cap. You could download your 1gig anytime you wanted without being throttled.
