Just Upgrade but...
My upload speed is the same as what I was getting on 2mb?
This is my config:
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 4096000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 400000
So why is my upstream so slow? I only upgraded cause I use voip and I needed the extra upload.
I'm having a bad day I guess.

Here is another speed test to a different server.

Re: Just Upgrade but...
178kbps is plenty for VoIP, you only need 84kbps maximum for toll quality voice.

Not if you have 4 lines it is not!
and the only reason I upgraded is because I am supposed to get a faster upload!
And it gets worse in the evenings, I cannot play games and voip tends to break up. Thought upgrading might help!

Reduce the codec to G.729, its a bit like mobile quality but at least it will work.
What the hell do you do that you have 4 x Voip calls going on at once anyway?

Re: Just Upgrade but...
Most voip providers do not use G.729 as they have to pay £12 per license and it's not GSM quality is very poor quality that uses 8kbps.
As I am paying extra for the extra upload then I should get the extra upload shouldn't I?
I guess a call is in order to either get this fixed or downgraded.

Re: Just Upgrade but...
You probably want to have a chat with VM - as the upload should be higher. Here is my speeds (I don't usually use speedtest.net, but it shows the upload speed).

Re: Just Upgrade but...
Thanks for the advice, however it was not VM's fault it was mine!
Sorry VM!
I had QOS set on my router and it was set at manual 180kbps so I changed it to auto and I now get:

Re: Just Upgrade but...
Yea I forgot all about QOS, I had been playing about with different firmware versions over the weekend however whenever I upload anything on the PC my calls would break up at the other end regardless of what firmware or QOS settings I had stored on my Linksys WRT54GS.
Anyway seems I forgot to set my QOS back to auto, I never called VM to complain or report a fault because it suddenly hit me to check my routers settings before I called. And BINGO what a noob I am!

Do you actually believe that VM should have paid for a phone call that was an user error?
How would the VM tech know what the QoS settings on the router were, after UBB had, and I quote, "been playing about with different firmware versions over the weekend" ?
