woo hoo 20mb in greenock ah im only getting 10mb

Ahh well after the long wait i finally got the 20mb i have been waiting for and thought i should do a wee speed test 1st test result 9.5mb then 8.8mb i did get an 11mb but that was only a wee tease from VM but i shouldnt grumble as i am now getting near the 10 mb i was always paying for

I have an ntl100 (could this be the reason for such poor speeds) currently wirered straight into the back of my laptop as i was only getting just over 3.5mb from my router

Oh and my upload speed is coming in at around 734kb/s

Just checked on VM website and apparently you do not need a modem upgrade. As I am sure you know, speed tests are subject to all sorts of random factors. What speeds were you getting before the upgrade?
Also, sounds like you need a new router. What is it?

Before the upgrade i was getting around the 9mb mark which i was quite pleased by but i wasnt expecting to still be getting that after the upgrade

So the only thing that has improved is the upload speed

I have a belkin wireless g+ router which is only about a month or two old

Speedtest are rubbish, download a few linux DVDISO's - a couple at a time should max out your connection and give you an idea of your capable speed
