Re: Traffic Shaping Affecting All Tiers

i reckon this trafic shaping is for that 5% who rip the **** outa it with their torrent downloads. i think vm will do monitoring to see who regularly goes over that limit during the peak times. then shape up until bandwidth runs smoothly

had 20mb since day one, sad to say i never use it, but have 4 computers and a little sis who rips the **** out p2p.

downloaded a total of 3.7gb , still sitting at 1900kB/sec - and listening to a live 128kbps stream.

Re: Traffic Shaping Affecting All Tiers

any other computers? maybe they do it by area :o lol. - or perhaps its just traffic. isit 5mb solid? mine was whoring the load outa a 5meg connection, didnt drop 1 slightest.

in DU it was showing as a big red rectangle lmao - if yours varies and stuff, it will probably be simply your next door neighbour rippin up some torrents.

-- reckon this is why VM are introducing shaping dont think it will last tho, and remember the sales guys really gotta inform you of this if u sign upto 20mb - otherwise theres gonna be complaints ladies!

5meg aint too bad, as was said earlier uk averaging around 2-3mb. but really dpeends on what your paying, most of the time you have a 20meg connection and you only get 5meg for a period of 4 hours in that day. cant be throttled twice i dont think?

also - does this include all days of the week?

been solid so far, 1 or 2 major drops for small periods, 5-10 more mins will go over 3gb. - am i right in assuming all those areas where 20mb has been rolled out, traffic shaping will have also taken effect?
(a test for anyone on a confirmed throttled connection)if you havent dont it yet, just before you reach the limit try uploading some stuff to your VM website and go over that way, then we can start to confirm or not, if its really just the download traffic and not the upload traffic... as stated elswere.

also if their introducing this as a way to save external pipes costs, why is the internal traffic also being included in this throttleing management!.
