Either they have
a) Changed the rules
b) You are on one of Paul H's "secret trials"
c) or you managed to download 350MB on a 2Mb link almost instantaneously (you should have at least 8 x 350 / 2 seconds (over 23 minutes)).
VM Traffic Management
Broadband Size: M
During peak times, the top 5% on the Size: M package download at least 350MB of traffic each.
Any users hitting this amount during peak times (4pm till midnight) will have their broadband speed temporarily traffic managed – their download speed will be set to 1Mb, with their upload speed set to 128Kb. This will last for 4 hours from when the traffic management policy is applied.
or d) I am talking complete round objects as usual.....

Re: Traffic Shaping Affecting All Tiers
a) I was trying to be even-handed by mentioning them as an option
b) how can they be "secret", if they are mentioned in a virginmedia.feedback forum by a Virgin Media employee
btw, virgins secret trials are something we used to do at Catholic Secondary school......

They are "secret" because they won't tell you what they are throttling or what they are capping

Paul, you should be a leader writer for the red-tops; now they aren't secret, they are "secret" - putting a word in quotes doesn't change it's meaning
btw, Oxford Dictionary definition of secret is:-
" adjective not known or seen or not meant to be known or seen by others"
I find it interesting that you call something that a VM employee talked about on an open forum "secret", and that you always focus on the throttling or capping - you never mention that he also said they were also trialling reductions and relaxations in the STM; funny that - people would think you had an agenda.............

You was the one who put the word in quotes. I just copied how you wrote it because I was wondering why you put it in quotes. now you blame me for putting it in quotes!

I will type slowly so you understand me better. they will not tell us any details of the trials. they will only tell us that they are doing other trials. that is where the secret (without quotes) comes in.

You don't have to type slowly, you just have to get hold of a dictionary; secret = not known; trials discussed on open VM forum by VM employee, new definition of secret I hadn't come across before.
If you had called them "unannounced and undefined", I would have agreed with you; but most, if not all, Telecomms companies carry out mods and trials on their networks all the time, and they don't announce or define them (I know this because I have worked for 2 of the major Telecomms companies, and worked with 2 others). You may not like that fact, but it is true.

It was a rhetorical question....
btw, you didn't respond to my query as to why you seem to focus on the capping and throttling trials, and never mention the ones for reviewing and relaxing STM.
Anyway, I am off out to see something that is a more believable depiction of conspiracy theories and is about someone who believes that everyone is out to get him - The Bourne Ultimatim

I know - that's why I deleted it; it was inaccurate.

Re: Traffic Shaping Affecting All Tiers
I would appear to be on 2 secret trials. - Every 3 or 4 days from 6 or 7AM until 4PM speed drops to 2 Meg, other days it is 19 Meg.
- Every single day, during the curfew, speed drops to 5 - 8 Meg then amazingly at midnight jumps to 19 Meg, I have never downloaded more than 1 Gig during the curfew.
The first day I was running at 2 Meg I thought maybe work was being done on the local network but as it is becoming a regular feature I am beginning to think it is bandwidth conservation at work.
Conspiracy theory: Target different areas on different days, it then becomes a local issue and doesn't get the flak it would do if they targeted everyone every day.
