what network is this person part of? As both the ntl and telewest networks are independent of each other at this time

It's interesting to see that this page http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html.../q2/speed.html only says that the upgrade will be from May, not 1st May.

Hmm...they're doing well to dish the service out early. Hopefully though, most of us will have the extra bandwidth by tommorow morning. It's just great to know you've got a hell of a lot of bandwidth behind you!

Well I've been charged £37 for the month starting 15th May so I guess it will definitely be on that day or before then.

Re: Anyone on the 20mbit/s yet?
Like a few others here I'm stuck on 13.odd Mb download (from newsgroups) with around 770Kb upload. I'm in the Sidcup area (Bromley), again ex-NTL area.
When I noticed the speed changes I thought i'd check out my modem config file, it's one of the purlple 250's, but for some reason the password and username of "root" doesn't let me in anymore. A new password or username???

Could go into the modem page config and change everything back to default to see if that cures it

If its not that, are you running on a proxy that needs to be turned off in Lan settings?

Re: Anyone on the 20mbit/s yet?
I'm still supposedly only on the 10Mbit/s service, yet earlier this afternoon I was achieving 1.56MByte/s, which is quite impressive.

Re: Anyone on the 20mbit/s yet?
Just another 4 hours and 37 minutes. I imagine the extra bandwidth will constitute lower latency...or at least, I hope.

Yeah, I think you become used to the bandwidth and after a while it's not so special. I wouldn't mind being on a 56kbit/s modem (not on my virgin connection) so when I decide to connect back up to virgin I can appreciate the extra bandwidth available...
