And why is it that all the other speed tests I use merely confirm that my connection isn't operating at or near 20Mbps please?

We're still waiting for news about what's happening on the Baguley server and to find out when we will be getting a connection which works at or as near as possible to 20Mbps.

Customers are asking a lot of questions but unfortunately little or no information is being volunteered or announced on a regular basis to answer the queries.

Checking the Service Status page in the Virgin Media Customer Zone, there appear to be internet problems all over the country but surprisingly I can't find anything for the Baguley Server or Manchester generally.

I realise that the floods in Yorkshire & the Midlands may have had a major impact on underground cables but surely that doesn't affect things here in Manchester.
VM won't ever cough up and say what the problem is. Baguely is oversubscribed, at least in my area. But will you hear VM own up and say that? Never, because it's a problem that can't be fixed without serious investment.

Interesting if Manchester isn't mentioned though, as I may phone up and complain (yet again) if that's the case. They are getting away with this. I haven't given up my one man crusade to somehow get them to either give me a decent speed or to compensate me in some way for charging me the earth for a shoddy service.

Worth noting that VM have now acknowledged issues with the NTLAmbit) 100 and 120 modems and the 20MB service. If you have one of these, you should now be able to request a swap.

Re: Anyone on the 20mbit/s yet?

It's posted in the VM newsgroups. I think the relevant VM web page has been updated, with further information to be added next week. (Off to see if I can find a link)

Yup - this site seems to have been updated

Re: Anyone on the 20mbit/s yet?

Well, going from that modem selection page I have no idea what to do. Rather interestingly the Ambit200 isn't listed there at all. I wonder why.

Re: Anyone on the 20mbit/s yet?

Eh? If you select XL p-ackage, then the modem you have (and the Ambit 200 is the second one down), then whether you connect via USB or ethernet, it will tell you whether you need an upgrade (the Ambit 100 and 120 now say they do, the 200 says not). If you do, you can either order one free for self-install, or book to have one fitted for £25.

Not for me it isn't. I have saved the webpage to prove it:

I may act dumb and fill in the form saying I have ticked the box showing the same modem as mine and see what they say. Worth a shot maybe.

Re: Anyone on the 20mbit/s yet?

Are they holding out on the 200 mabey, just to ease the flow of requests for new modems possibly??.........as someone else alluded to that is.

Re: Anyone on the 20mbit/s yet?

I phoned on Thursday this week complaining about my speed, today they came around and took my old modem and left me with a virgin branded one that reaches speeds off just under 20 Meg

It doesn't appear for me either, and I've never visited that page before (tried the CTRL-F5 anyway, no difference).

Yep, same for me. First time I had seen that page today. I tried ctrl+f5 anyway, but still no ambit200 listed.
