I'm also "on Bromley" - i.e. on the Bromley headend, but I live in Greenwich - and I'm getting 450kbps downstream constantly at the moment. It's great value for money, not.

Come Tuesday there will be a phonecall to VM - so don't complain too much, you're at least get 20 times the speed I'm getting. Your cable modem might not have received the new 20Mbps config yet.

Or just upgrade the network to cope with 20mb/s and NO throttling. But I can see your point; I would rather be on a slower 10mbit/s package than a shaped 20mb/s

The key words with ADSL are "up to". I can only get a max of 5.5Mbsp here, whereas with cable I can get... well, whatever I can get (currently 10, soon to be 20). Of course, cable is also "up to" some of the time (like the 16/20Mbps thing), but the technology (and having only 1 company involved) seems to make it much more stable.

I;d never touch ADSL because I work for a company who deal with it

Still on 10Mbps in Teesside
Agreed, I live in east cleveland, and no-one around here would even consider ADSL in any form, unless ntl killed your family.
Also still 10Mbps.

..or 20Mbps, with no throttling and no speed drops or being shaped because out here P2P is some weird oldy swinging abbreviation!!

I'll shut up now and remember that people live in high density with other people!

I'm not too sure. If it's one of the later ones then probably. Perhaps someone else can help you. Maybe google it.

DN35, better then ever for me!

Tue, 08 May 2007 08:40:33 GMT

1st 512K took 461 ms = 1110.6 KB/sec, approx 9151 Kbps, 8.94 Mbps
2nd 512K took 362 ms = 1414.4 KB/sec, approx 11655 Kbps, 11.38 Mbps
3rd 512K took 435 ms = 1177 KB/sec, approx 9698 Kbps, 9.47 Mbps
4th 512K took 431 ms = 1187.9 KB/sec, approx 9788 Kbps, 9.56 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 10073 Kbps, 9.84 Mbps

Dammit, this was supposed to be in "Bad service in Grimsby DN36 Area". Can a mod move it please?
