How can I get the free 10mb upgrade
I am on the 2mb service and have the SB4100 cable modem.
Ntl told me at the start of 2006 that they would be giving 2mb users a free upgrade to 10mb, sometime during that year.
Nothing has happened. Can anyone tell me how to get this service?
Regards
Paul

It still has not happened. IIRC the 2mb was upgraded to 4 and the 1 meg to 2 (I think anyway) but the rumours that all connections would be on 10 meg are as of yet unfounded.Your modem could struggle with 10 meg also

If you call retentions asking to cancel, they will offer you cheaper broadband to stay with them.

On the other hand they might say, tough, when do you want to leave
There will come a point when the powers that be realise that these cut off your nose type offers aren't helping the company. They'd be better off charging all customers the correct fee (which might then actually be able to be a tad lower), than chasing their backsides working out how to keep applying this and that discount.

Yep, could be a possibility.

I agree, I've always paid full price for my services. I only ever heard of retentions on this forum! If ntl were more competitive, they would not need to keep giving different offers out.

Re: How can I get the free 10mb upgrade
I can understand your arguments about 'you get what you pay for', but didn't ntl themselves make this upgrade offer in the first place?
Last year, in my confusion, I went to their upgrade page and upgraded to the 10mb service, thinking thats how it was done, and of course I was charged for it on my next bill.
When I rang to query this I mentioned the free upgrade and the girl definitely said something like, 'oh, thats being unrolled in different parts of the country over this year (2006)', so I left it at that, thinking I would be upgraded automatically later in the year.
Now its 2007 and I sort of wondered what happened to this promise/offer.

Re: How can I get the free 10mb upgrade
I think ntl's original plan was to give 10mb to everyone by the end of 2006 and to give customers different download limits. From what I've heard on this forum, I think they've scrapped the idea since they merged with telewest. Maybe there will be some free speed upgrades when they rebrand to Virgin Media.....?

Thanks.
Well, if they've scrapped the idea, then that's that!
