Re: Someone Help Please, Terrible Internet
There's a few things that can cause this. Your modem might not be on the right frequency. There maybe a problem on the pc itself with it loosing it's connection with the modem. There may issues on th UBR. If you are using an ethernet connection swap over to USB and give the connection a try on that or visa versa.
Hope that helps...
....If all else fails ring NTL:telewest

Just out of curiosity, how long ago did you have Telewest installed?

Re: Someone Help Please, Terrible Internet
What type of modem do you have (make and model), some have it wrote on the front, some on the back. Or you could describe it to me. Colour, does it have a "standby" button.
From there I can take you through the modem config pages so we can take alook at the settings within. Failing that you could pm me either your mac code on the modem or your account number or house number and post code.
I'll then take a look at your modem tomorrow from work. Sadly I don't start till 13:00
Edit: One thing about giving me your MAC is that you and/or others may think I want to clone your modem, so if you pm me just your house number & post code I can contact your modem that way.
Though if the CF staff don't mind I'll e-mail them from my works account so they can verify my credibilty

Re: Someone Help Please, Terrible Internet
@ bigfoothazza - Are you on 10Mb?, alot of people here seem to be havin' problems with 10Mb but I would like to know if you are on a lower tariff subscription also.
I was on 10Mb and and I had my modem changed and still had problems and went on a lower tariff (2Mb) and it's fine now but I'm not getting 10Mb.

to sherlock:
when it cuts off it just goes dead, i then have to unplug the power out of the modem and then goto local area connection in network connections and click disable and wait for the modem to fully power up and then press enable, but its really starting to get inrritating. it seems to happen more in the evenings.

Re: Someone Help Please, Terrible Internet
Hey Bigfoothazza, sounds like you possibly have a dodgy modem. Although if you have to enable and disable the NIC for it to work, it maybe worth looking into things like your DHCP client and NIC drivers aswell.
If possible, post your modem configuration pages with all your frequencies and power levels. (192.168.100.1)

Re: Someone Help Please, Terrible Internet
My pleasure bigfoothazza, I don't need any more info now I have your post code. Though you could tell us if you connect via usb or patch cable.
I'll take alook inside your modem and check for isssues there, then advise you there after.
