Re-reg MAC address?

Ok so last night my belkin router was playing up, no connection to ntl at all. Without thinking I restored the factory default settings on the router. Since doing that i have not been able to connect to ntl, I then realised that It could be something to do with the MAC address registered to ntl which i have lost. I no longer own the computer I used to register ...... is this going to be a problem? can I re-register to ntl with my new computer ( MAC address )?

Apologies if this is in the wrong section of the forum.

Re: Re-reg MAC address?

Power off everything and connect your pc direct to the modem using ethernet cable if possible, power on the modem, wait for lights to settle, power up pc, what happens ?

Re: Re-reg MAC address?

Try as bopdude says.
And if anything the modem MAC address is the piece that is registered to ntl.
Once you have a connection to the net via modem > pc, then add your router. Run through the config as you normally would, you may have to power down the modem and router ( once installed and setup) and power both back up. Modem first then router.

Good luck and post back your results

Re: Re-reg MAC address?

I thought that if you had an STB rather than a SACM, it was the MAC of either your router or NIC? I seem to remember setting up my mates router and having to turn on MAC address pass through.

Re: Re-reg MAC address?

If you are connecting via STB, it is slightly different. The Mac Address does make a difference. However there is no reason at all why you shouldn't register the correct mac address of your router with the ntl's STB servers.

Make sure the router is on it's default settings for the internet connection (auto IP, etc), with the default mac addy. Power off the STB, router and PC(s). Power on STB, let settle, router, let settle, PC. If you now try to browse the internet you should get auto redirected to the registration page. You'll need some of your original account details. If you don't get there automatically try using "start.ntl"
