Qam256
Just spotted in the forum a reference to QAM256 what is this? also I believe that Northamptonshire has not been upgraded!! (from what? to what? and what will the upgrade do?) I also note that "some 10 meg users are having problems big time with Ntl! others on the otherhand sing it's praises (wish I wish I was one of them) would this be why I have probs? Come on Ntl I still keep the faith guys, it helps with the Paranoia.

Re: Qam256
Basically your getting more data on the downstream to the modem using 256QAM. Its an upgrade that is being implemented around the country to improve the cable modem service, a fairly cheap way of improving service to the customer just a raising of the carrier in the network and a configuration from 64QAM-256QAM on the UBR's and some other stuff.
And everybodys happy!

The crappy UBRs like the ones in LE3 on QAM256 only catch up with the better UBRs on QAM64.

Re: Qam256
Ah QAM, yes i remember having lecture on that fun isn't it
Although kinda important if we want our modems.etc to work it was something i was taught and probably if im honest never use, its generally not needed to know how it works just how to fix it
