Annoyed....Help!
Well after 6 yrs with a Pace box, I decided to upgrade to 4mb. Got myself a new shiny Samsung in November. Since then my bb has been down more than its been up, couple of techie visits, loads of international calls to the "technical support centre" didn't fix it, until one techie suggested a SACM. I jumped at the chance as my 25 bucks a month was being wasted.
Had a install this morning. Took him 25 mins, and a cup of coffe later he was gone with the promise that it would work by 9am. Eagerly ancipating this I sat down at my pc. Kept entering my details on the cd setup, but it just kept failing. Decided to call them at 1030, spoke to bb tech support who gave me a another pin. Tried it without joy, then without any notice transferred me to sales, who then transferred me to CS. CS ran thru the manual set up, and promised 15 mins for the hits to reach my box. I made a note of these details and tried them about 100 times throughout my lengthy waiting times on the phone.
2pm and still nothing. Called again. Given new pin number. Told it would be 15 mins again. Called at 4pm, same old story, transferred between depts.
6pm, really annoyed. Taken a day off. Called again, said they would look at the account. Work order has not been processed hence no bb. Told to reboot everything, and in 15 mins I could be online.
1930, wanna go and sort this out myself at their end. Called again, CSA sets up another a/c with a different PIN, again promised me that it would be on shortly, blaming sales for not setting up correctly and the other 11 people I've spoke to today.....
2330, still nothing......Am I doing something wrong?
My setup is as follows:
P4 with winxp sp2
Linked to a Linksys WRT300N via ethernet
Which in turn is connected to the ntl 250 SACM via ethernet.
Router is fine, picks up IP address 80.**.**.**, and picks up 2 networks in close vicinity which I can connect to easily.
SACM shows Power, eth, sync, ready lights.
When I ping an address outside the network, they come back with sub75ms times, and the send/receive lights flash.
I'm not a total noob with routers. All my settings are the same as they were when connected via the STB. So what is going wrong?
They have the mac address, have given me 3 different PIN's which I have tried.....
Please can someone suggest something?????

Re: Annoyed....Help!
So you get a 404 when you try and access web, and you can ping OK, sounds like a firewall.
Do you have one or more PCs behind the router, what firewalls and anti virus are they using? Scanned for spyware?
Don't think the connection is the problem here.

Re: Annoyed....Help!
Sounds to me like you haven't registered your PC, which fits with your OP and the endless PIN numbers. Is your IP in the range xxx.xxx.xxx.248 to xxx.xxx.xxx.253?
Try going here: https://autoreg.autoregister.net/start.html For stand-alone cable modem users, the serial number is ntl-ct8-cb485.
For reference, try here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...er.html#ntlreg and go to "manual registration".

Re: Annoyed....Help!
Sounds like you'll have to persevere with CS/TS.

Re: Annoyed....Help!
Well, its behaving like it isn't registered... The fact you apparently have 3 PIN numbers attached to your account probably isn't a good sign. Could be other things though.
Those error messages in your modem might be helpful to TS.
