Slow internet!

Anyone else having BAD connection problems tonight?

Here is my speed tests....

SOURCE: speedtest.net

Also in the last 5 minutes MSN has signed out around 4 times!

Is anyone else having problems?

EDIT: Download from the Blueyonder servers are 57.8 kB/s (Now 187kB/s, I hope they have'nt downgrade me, how can I tell if I have?)

I have attached a screenshot of the Modem logs, there seems to be alot of errors!

As Mick said, him and another has been having the same problem...

Could this fit in with any of your bandwidth problems? http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/11...ets_throttled/

Re: Slow internet!

Well if they are loweing my speed JUST for surfing websites and using MSN Messenger, I think I should have a word, I do not download, and I never downloaded yesterday except to find the speed of my connection.

It went back to normal LATE last night approx 1am, it went back to around 390 kB/s when downloading!

Re: Slow internet!

They finally admitted to the traffic management testing that is going on in my area between 6pm and 1am daily,i tried to cancel my account and they advised that the test must be due to end soon as it has been going on for a few months now but couldnt give me a exact date of when it would finish.

In return if i stayed they agreed to a few months free internet (10mb) and a reduction in the monthly cost after that to £28pm and also sent me a free wireless router.

Still it would be nice to have a rough guide as to when this testing is going to finish,i suggest anyone in my postion to fight back and not just settle for them capping your connection.

Funny how they only needed to test the 20mb upgrade for 2 weeks but yet the capping testing is lasting months lol

Re: Slow internet!

Im in the preston area as well and Im hacked off with the capping

Found out that chorley exchange has been enabled by http://www.bethere.co.uk/

These guys claim up to 24Mb down and 1.3Mb up with NO RESTRICTIONS

I am going to have a bt phone line put in as a backup plan

Obviously the telewest phone line will be removed

Telewest need to be careful cause if they annoy too many people with the
net , I am sure they will move their other services as well

Do some research on your line lengh first. Last time I looked BT said I could only have 512kbps.

Re: Slow internet!

Do NOT use the derby server on this speedtest. It ALWAYS gives a LOW impression of your speed. Stick to London. Prove this by doing a test with London, followed by Derby then London again.

This shows that there is more to speed tests than your ISP.
