It was rubbish again last night. DNS timeouts, packet loss, the works.

Anyone else?

1st 512K took 3251 ms = 157.5 KB/sec, approx 1298 Kbps, 1.27 Mbps
2nd 512K took 4673 ms = 109.6 KB/sec, approx 903 Kbps, 0.88 Mbps

It was like this yesterday evening, and again today, from mid afternoon onwards.

Whatever the problem was last time, it got fixed, but only for a couple of months.

Re: Very slow 4Mb in PO9 area

It looks like it might be a transparent proxy problem.

My transparent proxy is Cosham 8. If I manually configure my browser to use Cosham 10, my speed is better.

I can also get to http://www.shop4parts.co.uk which I never could when using the proxy transparently - it just used to time out.
