Ntl Ip Address Renewal Probs

Hi,

I have a problem with the internet on one computer on our wireless network. We have 4 other computers that are working properly and are detecting the IP but the other will not. Instead it comes up with 169.... ip address.

We use a Sitecom router and all pcs use XP and the problem pc has service pack 1. The problem computer was working fine until it was connected to another internet connection but when it was used on our network again it does not work anymore. It can connect to the network but the internet doesnt work. I phoned up NTL support and they told me to try connecting it to the cable modem via an ethernet connector and this works fine. So im stuck, any help would be much appreciated!

Re: Ntl Ip Address Renewal Probs

Go to START > CONTROL PANEL > NETWORK CONNECTIONS

Right Click on the icon for the wireless device and select PROPERTIES

Highlight "Internet Protocol" and click on PROPERTIES

Make sure that your device is set to obtain an IP address automatically.

While you're here it would be useful to check that the settings in here match those for your other devices.

If you are specifying IP addresses for your other devices then you will need to do so for this one as well.
