Very slow webbrowsing

I'm in Manchester (M21) with a 750k stb connection. Web browsing speed has generally deterioated a lot over the past year or so, but in the past week has become almost useless unless I use an alternative non NTL proxy. I also get a lot of "this page cannot be displayed" type errors and have to hit refresh on almost every other page to get the page to load.

The situation improves a lot if I use an alternative proxy server (freeserves), but still is nowhere near as good as my friend's ADSL conenction desptie supposedly being faster.

NTL broadband used to be great, but since proxy caches were introduced the service is now inferior to ADSL.

to Cable Forum jb. Have you phoned NTL about any of this?

Rang them last night but was stuck in a queue for 40 mins(!) before I had to hang up as I was going out. Will try again over the weekend.

I encourage you to keep trying ntl. I had similar problems a couple of weeks ago. CS checked the line - said it was their problem - they got it sorted in a couple of days and everythings great again. Good luck.
