Re: same problem take#2

if i use a dload manager to dload of a http site it just hangs at the same time as the rest of the internet apps. like mirc will hang and eventually get dced of the irc network.

Re: same problem take#2

hmmm i switched all other apps off apart from mirc and ie for that download and it dloaded fine and i was connected for 1:56 without any problems.

So i thought what i could have done to cause this problem i then remmebered i made a registry file to change the KeepAliveTime, KeepAliveInterval, SessionKeepAlive tcp settings. Which i applied after each install of XP and i missed out a 0 in the KeepAliveTime which means instead of sending a KeepAlive packet every 5 mins it was sending it out every 30 seconds. Ive changed the registry settings now and i am now using ftp again. lets see how this spans out.

Firstly, thanks for using that question matrix, that eliminates a hell of a lot of issues straight off. I have repped you both for doing so and for trying to fix this yourself, it's a PLEASURE to assist people who do all of this.

Please PM me your IP address so that I can check for signs of issues with the cable network.
Ta.

[EDIT] I think I have an idea of the issue, however will need you IP address to confirm or rule this out.

Re: same problem take#2

Weirder than that. There's mystery hop in the traceroute on the line test which doesn't respond to pings:

12 ??? 100% 0 60 0.00 0.00 0.00

Then a 13th hop which is presumably the CPE, even though you've said you aren't using a router.

Although that test reports 7ms first hop pings, the traceroute above shows a somewhat less pleasant story.

Strange. *Still working on it*

Re: same problem take#2

yeah when i ping myself from mirc i always get like 30000+ hrs back. i just never took much note of it.
that 12th hop could be causing the high pings perhaps.

for example

[17:00] [ninja PING]

[17:00] [ninja PING reply]: 302590hrs 32mins 57secs
