NTLWorld new dialup number anyone?

Currently gettting the permanent engaged tone on the last dialup number for NTLWorld, and I'm guessing that they've gone and changed the dialup number again.

The one that is now failing is 0800 519 0600 (with all the prefixes), anyone on here tell me what the new number is.

And please don't tell me to download the new dialler, I have no windows boxes with a modem.

Thanks

Re: NTLWorld new dialup number anyone?

Hi, thanks for the welcome.

0800 519 0100 when I connect through there gives me a connection allright, but only serves the "download the new dialler here" web page, nothing else.

519 0600 has been working here for a month or two, since the 0100 number switched to the "download only" page, but from mid-wales appears to give a permanent engaged tone, both for myself and for a collegue who lives a few miles away.

I'm currently waiting for a call from tech support - should be between 5 and 7 tonight, and if they can't sort it, then it's off to eclipse who offer the Anytime service for the same 15 per month, with no maximum usage cap.

I'm presuming you have a BT phone line?, so would it not be worth paying 0.99p more per month, & getting 150k DSL from someone like Tiscali?

It's gotta beat dial up, & will keep your phone line free.

Try 08089909877 with no prefix unless the modem is plugged into the ntl box, in which case prefix with either 1280 or 121. If you have your phone number with-held, then prefix the above with 1470.
In fact dialling 1470128008089909877 should cover all and any set-up, as long as ntl let you use it!!

Re: NTLWorld new dialup number anyone?

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I now have a working connection again

the 0808 number works, though why it never worked in the beginning is beyond me.

Neil: Yes I do have a BT line, and believe me if I had any probability of getting a DSL connection, then I would jump at the chance, but I think it'll be about 18 months until it happens in the little village in mid-wales where we live. Oh, and I installed a second phone line so that we can use the phone and the internet at the same time - so the cost for 'net access for me will go down when ADSL actually arrives.

Oh, and NTL tech support never actually phoned me back - I really didn't expect them to if I'm really honest about it, but you never know, sometimes the highly improbable does happen.

Thanks all, and I may drop back in again when I don't have a problem ;-)
