Analogue removed in Cardiff?

My elderly parents had a phone call this morning from NTL saying they wanted to call this Saturday to remove the analogue box and replace it with digital. They were told the cost would be the same, but would be able to see more channels.

Is this correct and why this is being done now; is the price the same and what extra channels would they get?
