Question Talk Unlimited 24

I've recently opted to take the talk unlimited 24 package and was expecting all calls (except premium rate numbers/mobiles) to not be billed...

However it appears that for example 0845 numbers are still billed, even though that is a local rate call.. ??

The tariff guide suggests that only numbers beginning 01 or 02 are covered under talk 24, which seems daft as a call to an 0845 number is cheaper than say a national rate 01 number.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Re: Talk Unlimited 24

0845 is not a 'local' rate, it is a 'Lo-Call' non-geographic number. In NTL's terms, that translates to about 4.5p/minute peak rate and it is not included in any 'inclusive' bundle!

A rip off - I certainly think so!

The cheapest way to call an 0845 number in daytime is using Telesavers (as recommended by MoneySavingExpert) - they charge 2p/min BUT you pay whether you connect to the 0845 number or not.

HTH

Or find the landline number that the 0845/0870 number 'masks' by going to www.saynoto0870.com

Yes only actual geographic numbers are included. Which means only 01 or 02 numbers.

Unfortunately, your assumption is wrong. An 0845 number is more expensive than a national 01/02 number whatever tariff you are on.

Re: Talk Unlimited 24

0845 numbers cost telewest more, because a fee is paid to the person receiving the call in addition to the usual network carriage fees paid when calls transfer between networks.

I think they are included in the new Talk 200 etc packages.
