I have a 1000+ box. No trouble with box and also use it for 600k broadband. No trouble there either.

My 1000 box has been keeping me warm for over 2 years, when it dies I'm going to bury it in the back garden and plant a tree to remember it by.

Mine's a 1000 series,labelled Cable & Wireless
not that they were much better than ntl, but they did have a £10 guaranteed credit for whenever they failed to fix faults promptly, loss of service, etc - those were the days.
