Cancelled TV package today

Our toddler has nicked & lost the smartcard out of our Samsung STB, phoned CS to get a new one, I was told it would cost the following:
1, £25 for a new card.
2, £25 for an engineer to come program it to the STB.

Thats 50 quid for a bloody bit of plastic!!! Why carnt they make the bloody boxes child proof.
Bloody extortion !! 10 years of custom mean bugger all. Nooooooooo way am I coughing up £50.
Anyhows told CS Im cancelling which I did today after gutting the house to find it. So its back to freeview or maybe Sky.

Im keeping BB & phone for now tho.

Re: Cancelled TV package today

Kids are peed off tho, no Disney etc But if NTL wanna throw away £350+ a year for the sake of a card good luck to em...... I half expected them to waive the fee, but I guess I picked a bad day for the staff to be generous (redundencies etc).

Anyhows their loss

Re: Cancelled TV package today

You might yet get a call from retentions asking why you're leaving

Dunno if they do this in every case, but I've heard people here saying they've had a call from retentions days after ringning up to cancel, trying to get them to stay - they may well waive the fee.

Re: Cancelled TV package today

Well retentions rang today, waived the £50 and are crediting us with the lost days of service, well that leaves me happy enough tho it took me canceling the package to get some action.

Usually the case... It's just a shame you have to make a song and dance about everything these days before any action gets taken. What if you can't sing, and what if you can't dance?? (metaphorically speaking of course)
