Sudden drop in SNR in Southsea (PO5) area.
Hi, when I got back today and turned on the TV, E4 was very stuttery, so I decided to reboot the box (Pace DiTV 2000).
When the box restarted, channel 0 came up with an error message saying my channels were unavialable (Code M043), so I checked me SNR and it was 22dB and the pre RS errors were flucutating between 25000 and 36000. This all happened suddenly, no equipment was moved whatsoever!
What could be the casue of this? Will it fix itself or will I have to wait till friday for and engg. to arrive (2 days no TV :'( !!) Is there any way I can fix it myslef?
Edit- CM SnR is normal at 29-30 odd dB and the phone is working fine. Just the TV has screwed up although CS were helpful.

Re: Sudden drop in SNR in Southsea (PO5) area.
when i first looked at the title i isntantly thought your wife must have come into the room. (drop in signal to noise ratio )
seriously, this happens to me now and again. The NTL eng may have adjusted the amp in the green cabinet to fix someone elses problem but this has caused you a problem. This has happened to me a couple of time (or so the NTL eng said)

Your neighbour has probably just plugged in his hacked box he just got off Ebay
Try unplugging your modem, then plug your STB in there and see what it does.

Re: Sudden drop in SNR in Southsea (PO5) area.
If the STB has 0 on it, give NTL a call. There may be an area fault going on in which case there should be a message on the IVR on the way in. Check the cables, reboot and if there are no area faults going on, the agent will send signals down. they will take 2 hours to clear and should get your channels back.
Hope that helps

Re: Sudden drop in SNR in Southsea (PO5) area.
Well it worked Ok for a day (it corrected itself) but now again all of a sudden the SNR has dropped.
Wondering if this help
In the MCNS Downstream screen - everything is LOW or BAD i.e. SNR, PRE and POST (not sure what they stand for. The box also keeps switchin between QAM64 and QAM256 ??) SNR fluctuates between 0.0dB and 47dB.
However, the DVB Demod Status is fine. Im guessing that this is all a signal from the UBR realted issue. And yes channel 0 comes up
Error Code - M043.
Can someone advise me what steps to take (is an engineer visit reqd?)
TIA

Re: Sudden drop in SNR in Southsea (PO5) area.
See as above. NTL will be able to get signals sent down to sort it. If not, an engineer will be needed. Theres nothing you can do outside that to fix it.
Hope that helps
