SCART & RF CONNECTIONS: DVD recorder (panasonic DMR EH50), NTL PACE box, VIDEO(aiwa)

Having tried numerous combinations as described by various people, I found that the following worked well for me:
Connecting TV, NTL PACE box, DVD Recorder (Panasonic DHR-E50) and a Video (AIWA)

RF Connections
  • External NTL cable antenna ÃÂ* NTL cable input socket
  • Ext RF aerial ÃÂ* NTL in (antenna)
  • NTL out (TV) ÃÂ* Video in (aerial/entrée antenne)
  • Video out (RF out / sortee antenne) ÃÂ* DVDR in (RF in)
  • DVD RFout ÃÂ* TV aerial socket (in)
SCART Connections
  • DVD AV1 (TV) ÃÂ* TV SCART 1 (must connect to scart1 if you want to enable RGB video output)
  • DVD AV2 (decoder/ext) ÃÂ* NTL (VCR) scart
  • NTL (TV) scart ÃÂ* TV SCART 2
  • Plug a SCART cable into one of the two Video SCART sockets and run the other end to where the DVD recorder is but don’t plug it in. Only plug in as detailed below when you want to start VideoÃÂ*DVDR recording. Alternatively, you could buy a SCART Y splitter cable and plug one end (the long single end) into the DVDR AV2 (decoder) and the other two ends as follows: one into either of the Video scarts and the final one into NTL (VCR) scart
To Record from Video to DVD (without using a Y splitter):
  • Take out the DVDR’s AV2 (decoder) scart which connects it to the NTL box
  • Plug the open end of the SCART connected to the video into this
  • (the Video SCART can originate from either of the two SCART sockets)
  • Press Play on the Video
  • Press record on the DVDR
  • Switch back when you want to start DVD recording from NTL/terrestrial channels again
To Record from NTL channels or Terrestrial Channels:
  • Simply select EXT1
  • On the DVD remote, set the channel to the one you want to record
  • Press record
This configuration sets EXT1 at the recording channel and EXT2 as the NTL channel. You could swap it around, but remember, you need this configuration if you want to enable RGB video output as opposed to composite (co-axial) output (former is more sharper).

See separate documents on RGB enabling – you need to enable both the DVDR (see the DVD manual for instructions – pages 60-62) and NTL PACE box to do this ( http://www.js-technology.com/technic...digital-tv.pdf )
