TV screen goes blank

Is it just me?
The last few months at any time of day, the picture will briefly disappear for about a minute, it doesn't happen every day but when it does it will continue for the rest of the day.
It doesn't seem to be any particular channel, I recently had a new STB but that didn't make any difference. ( I have digital TV. ) LU7 area.

The trouble is with an intermittent fault, it is difficult to rectify.
Does anyone know why this would happen?

You can bet your life it will drop out at the most exciting bit

gedr.

Do any other channels on your Telly/STB work at the time?

Re: TV screen goes blank

Zeph, to be honest, I haven't really tried, would that help to pinpoint the problem? I will try others next time it happens.
thanks, gedr.

Re: TV screen goes blank

Well if when it goes blank you try changing a channel on the STB and get a picture, that tends to point to a signal problem, but if you change the TV channel to something like your VCR and get a picture then it could point to something wrong with your Scart or the box itself. However, if you change the channel on the TV and get no picture at all then it could point to something more sinister (the TV itself may be at fault)

Re: TV screen goes blank

Blanking pictures on certain channels will happen now and again as part of the digital service NTL provides. However, it depends on how often it happens. Check all your cables, especially the scart is in securely. If the blanking pictures problem continues, :

If it happens only at certain times, i.e the evening, it could be because of the network load in your area. Something that a technician or a faults agent could not fix tbh. If you phoned faults they'd probably ask you to monitor the sitation to see if it got worse.

If it happens at various times a day and happens at least once every hour, a tech will be required.

Either way, I'd advise always to report a fault, even if they agent can't fix the problem, so a note of the complaint is put on the account

Thanks, Zeph and Pinkypants,
the next time it happens I will check the other channels and then report it if need be.
