Using Guide Plus+ with Pace STB

I'm planning on getting a Pioneer DVR-RT601H-S DVD/HDD recorder, which has an the electronic program guide (EPG) Guide Plus+. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this can connect to my Pace STB to get program listings and to change the channel etc.. so it can record.

I'm not quite sure of the model of the STB, but it's about 2 years old and has a blue remote with silver buttons on the side.

Cheers very much

Re: Using Guide Plus+ with Pace STB

There is no wired way that I know of for the STB to be controlled by another device.

Some devices have an ability to use a remote control type signal, but that's a problem too with many of the PACE STBs as they use IrDA signalling rather than the more standard RC5.

Simply put I doubt you are going to be able to control the STB from any DVD/HDD type recorder. That's why many of us are desparate for ntl to come up with a proper PVR equivalent of Sky +

If you want to record a cable channel all you need to do is set your dvd-r up on your cable chan and set the stb to auto change chan at pre-set times (set diary events)

Some of the pioneer models can do what you want. There is another forum which may be better placed to answer your question about pioneer DVRs.
Try looking HERE where several threads mention Guide+ and G-Link to NTL.

Many DVD/HD recorders, including GuidePlus+ models, the Toshiba RD-XS32/34 and Windoze Media Center can control The Pace IRDA boxes with the aid of a Red-Eye Translator.
See This page for specific info on setting up GuidePlus+ models.

Got myself a Philips DVD/HDD last year, which also has Guide Plus+. At the time I had a Pace box, and as others have stated, couldn't use the IR link. However a friendly NTL engineer who came to swap my other STB for a Samsung (for 1 Meg BB), convieniently 'found' a prob with the STB attached to this DVD/HDD. He organised a swap for a Samsung. The Guideplus+ setup at that time didn't include the Samsung STB, but I set it up as a Pace, and it works a treat! The IR link switches the Samsung on and selects the channel which has been set for recording.

Hope this helps.
