Re: Apologies

As Paul says, the only way to split the signal (legally) is to do it through ntl.

Re: Apologies

I think the problem is that with two boxes you'd be able to watch diffferent NTL channels at the same time, which Im learning from the forum is illegal, and if you think about it this does make sense. Arent there gadgets you can buy in argos which allow you to watch cable throughout the house (albeit the same channel?)

Re: Apologies

Can we confirm what you want to watch through the second box? If it's NTL then you need to get another box through NTL. If you just want terrestrial tv then there are ways to do it that won't incur the wrath of NTL

Re: Apologies

All this is as maybe. Can I suggest if there is a need for a discussion of *legal* ways to share an NTL signal around the house, a new thread should be started in the NTL TV forum.

This forum area is reserved for discussing matters relating to the way this site is run, and redmel has started this thread because of the reaction to his/her previous threads. My opinion on those:

1. You don't need to post multiple times. It serves only to p*** people off. Just because you're on the internet doesn't mean you're not dealing with real people - treat this place as if you were in a real room, asking real people for help, and you'll find there's no need to make a grand entrance and a lot of noise. I'm sure you're not a rude person in real life.

2. That said, I think our regular members could try to remember that not everyone who comes in here with a question like redmel's is an out-and-out thief trying to rip off NTL. A little forbearance and the benefit of the doubt would not go amiss. Yes, what s/he was trying to do was wrong, but there are nicer ways of saying it.

edit

Don't you just love it when another member of the team moves a thread without telling you ...

OK this is now in NTL Cable TV Support and Discussion. All legal ideas for helping Redmel, post away ...

You can split the coax signal that comes OUT of the STB and into the TV into two TVs, or send the coax to the TV in the bedroom and connect the TV by the STB by SCART only.

If you manage to obtain a second STB, split the cable coming into the house and connect it to two STBs then you would need to get the aquired STB chipped or modded to be able to decode the signal.

If you want to watch two different cable channels on two different tvs the only legal way of doing it is paying £15 a month to NTL and they will come out and install this from you.

And now you've been advised appropriately - of course you weren't rude or anything but it does say in our terms and conditions to not post the same question twice....
