Red face samsung STB

Hi

i'm new on here so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. Whilst trying to install a new recordable dvd plater, I have accidentally dislodged a cable on my stb. I am either getting the error message of LD:20 or I am being informed that there is a loose connection and I can't receive any channels. Can anyone help or do I have to call for an engineer to come out?

Re: samsung STB

Check the catv cable, normally a white cable that is screwed in to the set top box is secure.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

I'd suggest powering off the STB and any connected appliances such as the TV and DVD. now carefully unplug or unscrew any leads and firmly resecure them. Now power on the STB, followed by your TV & DVD.

If the error continues, you'll need to call ntl faults for an engineer to check things out.

Re: samsung STB

Thanks for that - I just checked and it appears to be secure. It is attached through the BYP 2100

Well I've tried everything now so it looks like I'll have to put a call through tomorrow. Thanks anyway

Re: samsung STB

You could try and removing the bypass and screwing the cable directly into the settop, the bypass is powered by the box, so that might be at fault.

I would still recommend a tech visit tho....

Sorry to bother you again but should I replug the bypass before the engineer calls?

Re: samsung STB

No, just explain the issue - works without, does not with. He or she should know what to do. I suspect a faulty bypass tho....

As smiley man has said is the connector under the bypass plugged in or has the pin been bent in the bypass.

Re: samsung STB

Hiya thank you very much for all your feedback. I'm not very technical but from what I can tell the pin in the by pass unit was bent so I have plugged the cable straight into the box

Re: samsung STB

Cheers again. At the minute my recordable tv and video need tuned in again - do you think the engineer would do this for me when he is there?
