Red face problems with dvd surround and my stb

Hi All,
I've just purchased an all in one dvd/surround box. However I cannot get my stb to run through it.
my problem seems idetical to this one :- http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/ar...p/t-14442.html. My tv has only 2 scarts, but otherwise all is the same. The solution appears to be to get a scart splitter, but I'm still a little unclear as to how exactly its all wired up. Any suggestions please ??????
My setup is as follows
Video - 2 Scarts, 1 connected to Digital box, the other free
Digital Box - 2 Scarts, 1 connected to Video, the other to TV
DVD surround sound - 1 Scart connected to TV

thanks,

Dickie
TV - 2 Scarts, 1 connected to Digital Box, 1 to DVD

Re: problems with dvd surround and my stb

Does your TV have audio out sockets on the back?
Kind of like these:

If so, you should be able to simply use a lead from those to you surroud sound box, and you'll get the sound of whatever is shown on your TV thru your surround box.

If your TV doesn't, then get yourself a scart lead with Audio out leads, like this:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...20lead&doy=3m1
And use that in one of your scart sockets on your TV, you may have to try it in both to get the best result.

Cheers

Re: problems with dvd surround and my stb

Thanks for the swift offers of help !!!!
The package I have bought was a jvc ths33r (which has just gone up £50 overnight by the way!!!!) which has 1 scart socket on the back. It and the tv have no separate audio connectors. When you select the tv sound input, you get the tv sound , but not the stb sound. I've tried re-routing the scarts, but I can get the stb sound but not its picture !!!!!! The earlier post reccommended a scart splitter, but I'm not 100% sure how this works, or how to connect the leads, or indeed which leads to connect.
Does that info help ????
Thanks for your concerns

Oh, the jvc ths33r was from Richer sounds by the way , they seem to have an "interesting" pricing policy

Re: problems with dvd surround and my stb

OK, Just pulled my Sanyo system out (my god what a mess, haven't pulled it out in over a year lol), and mine is set up :-

DVD - TV
VIDEO - STB
STB - TV

With this setup, the Surround plays what ever is on the TV screen.

Hope this helps

Thumbs up Re: problems with dvd surround and my stb

sounds like either a scart isnt inserted fully somewhere or you need to change your av/ext channel!
just a possibility

Re: problems with dvd surround and my stb

Many thanks !!!! One of the scarts is a bit dodgy, I've managed to get it to work by connecting the dvd through the stb to the tv. I've not got the video fully sussed for recording yet, but I'm sure I'll get there.
Many thanks for all suggestions thus far. This was my first series of posts and its been a successful result so far, cheers all round !!!!!!!
