My small child managed to lose our new NTL remote for our Samsung box.
I bought a new one off ebay which seems to be in good working order but won't work with our box. Does it need reprogramming? The red led lIght is coming on when I press the buttons but isn't having any effect on the box.
If the one you bought from eBay is black in colour, rather than the dark blue of the original remote, you've got the wrong type - there are two types of remotes for ntl boxes, and they aren't compatible.
As jellybaby said though, if you call Customer Services you can get a new remote (which will also control your TV) sent to you for (I think) £20.
I have also just had a Samsung box but my remote worked straight away, maybe you brought an older remote, i don`t know if your awere but there are two models. If you have a look at item 5846166094 on Ebay this remote is definatly compatable with your box.
Hope this helps you, Happy New Year, Brad.
I had a new remote free from NTL when the old one become defective. I was threatened with all sorts of punishments if they found that the old one was not broken when I returned it to them. Must have been defective because I didn't hear anything else from them.

We did the same - you don't really think that with customer service like that, that they've got time to check?
