problem recording digital TV

Hi all,
I have ntl digital TV, LCD TV and Panasonic DVD recorder, I can record using video+ numbers, but this will, of course, be via the analogue aerial, this is a lousy picture, it seems whatever I do I cannot make it record the digital input, except if I use the One Touch recording option and then it will record anything.
Is it possible to record the digital?
Please bear with me, at 76, when I went to school an abacus was new technology :-)

Re: problem recording digital TV

Thanks tabatha, I have one scart lead from set top box to monitor and another one from monitor to recorder, I did notice the recorder and STB have a second scart port, but there is nothing in them, should there be?
thanks, gedr.

Re: problem recording digital TV

with acknowledgement to altis, this is the way to connect it up, obviously the DVD recorder takes the place of the VCR.

Re: problem recording digital TV

Set-up I have is...
STB "vcr scart" to recorder "AV2 decoder"..
AV/TV scart to tv...
Set Panny to "AV2" to record whatever channel the STB is outputting..
Instant record or timer both work fine....
PM if I can help......
Reading your post you do not appear to have the STB connected to the recorder

Re: problem recording digital TV

Thanks both for the replies, I will now try to soak up this info and see what I have done wrong, there now follows further excuses, only got one eye and that has a cataract, so might take a little while.

Cheers, gedr.
