Re: Is these right

How long have you had your remote / service?

It is kind of right to prevent multiple replacements for people who are just careless or prone to destroying them, but if it is long term wear and tear then they should be free.

Re: Is these right

Tell them the existing one is available to take away and for them to refurbish and repair and that it is wear and tear from 5 years use that has resulted in the need for replacement.

Otherwise use the responsetek thingy on here (or use that also) that should highlight this issue to mgmt, after all a selling point of NTL is that they cover the maintainance of your STB, now being as the STB functionality is seriously impaired without a remote control you would naturally assume that the maintainance would include maintainance of the Remote.

Re: Is these right

change the batteries, and if that does not fix it, then they will charge you £15 if they say it does not need repaired.

I have had 2 replacement controllers, without any cost.

Re: Is these right

The £15 charge is for the remote if it's found not to be faulty hence the bag to return it to ntl so it can be tested. Many customer don't check the batteries and so were returning remotes that worked perfectly well. It's amazing how many customers suddenly say they don't want a remote sending when advised of the charge if it works. If yours is genuinely broken then you won't be charged.
