Re: 2nd STB
You're not paying for the stb per say, but the channels that you can receive through it. The £15 a month is for the mirror subscription in other words.

Re: 2nd STB
Hmm, thats why it says second STB rental (or something like that on the bill). Not mirror subscription charge.
So NTL are £5 a month more expensive for a mirror subscription, or should that be £10 a month for a mirror subscription and £5 a month STB rental (or maintinance / wtty cost).

Depends how you look at it. Don't you have to buy the (second) sky box and then pay again for the subscription to the second box? You can twist what the words say, but at the end of the day it's not that difficult : You get a second stb and all the channels that you get on your first stb for £15 extra a month. It's not rocket science.

Correct! You do have to buy a second Sky box then £10.00 P.M for a mirror subscription PROVIDING it's kept connected to a phone line otherwise you get charged full price for whatever your package is!

Re: 2nd STB
It does, over time you would anticipate that the sky approach should be cheaper as the you can divide the upfront cost over the differential cost
Sky additional STB Cost / (NTL monthly - Sky Monthly )/ STB cost = payback point.
99/5 - 20 months
However for many as the STB is owned by the household this is a bit of a wash of a calculation as you will already have obtained benefit / use of the STB as an upgrade / purchase of Sky+ so the calculation is more of a 0/5 thus a £5 month saving.
This calculation is obviously wrong as there should be a comparison to upgrading the STB to a Sky+ box, but this cost (£299?) cannot be compared to NTL / TW as both at the moment do not offer an equivilant box, thus we do not know the additional STB rental for a PVR box over a standard box.
