Death of Pace box

Hi chaps, been reading the forum for a while and wondered if anyone can help. Returned home from work on Saturday night and our Pace stb was displaying 8888 and only displayed a blank channel 0 on screen, restarted a few times and stuck the card in and out, eventually on sunday a service message came up informing us we were currently being updated with the new software roll out (it's been almost 48 hours now) and an 0800 number to call... we've got no net (which is a real pain for someone who's supposed to be implenting a new website today) and no television (no coax downstairs).

I assume the problem is with the aged old pace, having already asked for a samsung and the engineer not appearing, not too mention service in Portsmouth (via Cosham) is never anything to shout home about.

I was curious if anyone else in my area has experienced similar problems

Your box does sound kapput, but simply requesting a Samsung won't get you one. CS cannot book one for you, and the engineers get what they're given out of stores.

Mind you - if you get your BB through STB and not CM, don't they automatically send out a new Samsung?

Re: Death of Pace box

I think it was about 6 months ago I requested a new Samsung box as we were upgrading to 2mbs, the engineer was booked to come one afternoon for 2 months later, came home from work to let him in and he'd come an hour earlier than booked, boo!

Depends. If you're on 1meg, a PACE will do fine.

And the rest of us - I'm PE1 and got no TV, and the Call divert has disappeared again after five minutes...

Anyone (NTL Employees) have any further information for those of us unlucky enough to have a Samsung box with no channels?

PE1 and the Samsung box says "Your channels are currently unavailable. This maybe due to a cable coming unplugged. Please turn off your set top box and check all connections and then restart"
Funnnily enough, I have checked the connections, and restarted a zillion times (well nearly...)

Re: Death of Pace box

I've got the same trouble. Rang up CS and they say it's a fault with the Samsung boxes. And engineers are working on it. Coulde be a few hours. Well that's down here in Portsmouth anycase.

Did you get the new channels by the way - or are you still missing them?
